"GLORIA"
Organized by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the exhibition will feature six new commissioned works by Allora & Calzadilla that have been conceived partly in response to the pavilion site. Combining performance, sculpture, video, and sound elements, the works allude to competitive enterprises such as the Olympic Games, international commerce, the military industrial complex, and even the Biennale itself, to explore the concepts of competition and nationalism. The works playfully combine installation and performance art to create artistic experiments that explore the nature of physical visual and audible sensory experiences. Three installations will include athletes of USA Gymnastics and USA Track & Field, and Olympic medalists will perform at the pavilion during the days of the vernissage.
My personal take of the Exhibit is the riflection of the Athlete running in the eyes of the
"Average American": the afro-american art student kindly posed for me in what I felt was a
possible declination of the art.
ou can read whatever you like in the performance...
I personally saw a very realistic view of what is America right now.
It truly effected me.
Great "Gloria" art installation by Allora&Calzadilla.
